Fundraising for those less fortunate - 2006
We have something very important to discuss with you! This year (as in all
years past) Casey & Riley will be taking part in Bark
in the Park**. The difference this year is that we have the ability to
raise funds online as well as through the manual method. Of course the online
method is preferable since that gets the money to the people (and dogs) that
need it most a little faster. If you can find it in your heart to make a donation
to our boys cause, please visit our 2006 donation page here (you
can see our 2005 page still here)
and make a donation to this most worthy of causes.
** Bark in the Park raises
money for the Chicago
Anti-Cruelty Society and is a 3 mile walk that dogs must complete (with
their owners trailing behind).
Halloween 2005
Casey and Riley have done halloween yet again... this time they really done
it right. I have created a video of their great work on this glorious day.
Check out the video here (sorry high bandwidth only, right click and choose
save as for low bandwidth)
Can you believe he is 3 already!!
Well amazing as it is, Riley is 3 years old already!! We celebrated his birthday
very early in the morning as the temperature that day was a little over 100
degrees at 8:00 AM. We took them to the Little Boy Park at 6:30 AM so that
he and Casey could still get some good play time in before the heat got out
of control then they came home for some special yogurt "popcicles". Here
you can see the pictures of them at the LBP.
After the LBP we took him to the dog
stores where he was able to have fun, get cookies at Jessie & Choppers
in downtown Geneva and at Wet Nose in Geneva
Commons, where they even gave
him a toy hammer for his birthday present.
Riley is now working in Open Obedience classes. He is doing exteremely well
on all of the retrieving work and this little guy cannot get enough of the
jumps in this class!
Check in on Riley and Casey on their web
cam!! Live feed with new pictures every
90 seconds.

Riley's 2nd Birthday
There are some pictures of Casey & Riley at the Big Boy Park on Riley's
2nd Birthday (3 pages worth of pics!)! Since Riley and Randy have the same birthday, we
had a party for both of them and Riley seemed to have the most fun (until he passed out that
is). He had a big day, considering he was at the Big Boy Park (BBP) by 9:30 AM and the party started
by 4:00 PM.
Christmas 2003
This year we sent out Christmas cards with the dogs on them, (see the
one that we sent out) or you can see the 52 pictures that we took looking for just the right
pose.
Riley's Halloween(s)
Looking for Halloween 2003 pictures? Here they are!
I also have a very cool video that I made from some pictures of Riley on his first Halloween (October 31, 2002 - he was 3 months old at the
time). He was a cowboy and the video was composed to Willie Nelson's song "Mama, don't let your babies grow up to be cowboy's". Just
a teaser below for you, click on the image to see the video (if you have a slow connection, you can download the video in zip format, then
unzip it and watch it locally on your machine, click here for that option).
If you want to see more of Riley on his first Halloween, go here for a page dedicated to his first Halloween!
Riley at 3 months
I have tons of pictures of Riley when we first brought him home, but since my ISP limits my storage space to 100 MB, I can't put it all
here. Some of the funniest pictures are of Riley when he is at his "Big Brother's" watering hole.
Some tragic events of Riley's young life
The following pictures are from some of the saddest days (yet happiest because of the outcome) of our lives.
These are some pictures of Riley, immediately following his surgery. He did not even know what hit him when he ate the glue and chalk.
On Monday January 20, 2003 I (Randy) got a phone call at 4:45 PM from the girl (Lauren) who walks Casey and
Riley saying that Riley had gotten out of his crate and into something
blue (plumb line chalk). I immediately left work to come home and get Riley to go to the vet and meet Leslie there. When I got home,
Lauren told me that she found a
tube of glue in the basement that it looked like he also ate. I scooped up Riley and took him to the vet, where we were told everything
should be ok, then they took some x-rays to be safe and the vet came back in the room and was about ready to have a cow. She told us we
had to rush little Riley to the Dundee
Animal Hospital where one of the best surgeons in the area could operate on him.
We did just that and Riley was immediately rushed into surgery and the rest
is history. Following a couple of scares that he was not going to make it,
the wonderful doctors at the Dundee
Animal Hospital made sure Riley was going to be OK. This whole process took
4 days as you can see from the pictures above, Riley came home on January 25,
2003 and at the ripe old age of 6 months (his 6 month old birthday was the 24th)
he had now survived a surgery the doctor told us had some very grave likelihood
of working, let alone the substantial cost. The part of this that was truely
amazing was that on the 22nd (the first day we could see Riley -- 36 hours after
surgery), the doctors told us that it was absolutely amazing how he bounced back
as soon as he woke up and has only wanted to play since he woke up from the surgery...
well of course this was not news to us, after all he is Riley.
